Course content:

Day 1 – Basics & PLC Technology

  • Fundamentals of Control Engineering (Measuring, Controlling, Regulating; P-, PI-, PID Controllers; Open/Closed Control Loops; Disturbances; Control Paths; Dead Times)
  • Practical Examples: Temperature and Pressure Control
  • PLC Basics (Structure & Function, Wiring vs. PLC, Digital/Analog Signals, IEC 61131-3)
  • Workshop: Programming Simple PLC Logic

Day 2 – Bus Systems & Sensor Technology

  • Bus systems in building automation (Modbus, BACnet, KNX, LON, DALI – comparison and areas of application)
  • Fieldbus vs. System bus, addressing, Communication principles, sources of disruption
  • Sensor technology (temperature, pressure, humidity, CO₂, flow)
  • Types of signals, data processing, filtering, calibration
  • Practice exercise: Analyze and interpret measurement data

Day 3 – MSR Systems & Applications

  • Overview of common control systems: Siemens Desigo/Synco, SAIA PCD, PRIVA Blue ID/ECO
  • Differences, areas of application, visualization / building management technology (BMT)
  • Applications: Heating, ventilation, air conditioning controls; heat recovery; mixed air dampers; lighting control; sun protection/shutters; security technology (smoke extraction, access)
  • Workshop: Designing the Control of a Ventilation System

Day 4 – Exam & Certificate

  • Review of all modules, open question session
  • Multiple Choice Exam & Application Task
  • Evaluation, individual feedback discussions
  • Certificate presentation and closing round

  • Duration: 4 intensive days (online modules & in-person exam on-site in Switzerland)
